In history when the original 2 state solution was promoted by Britain, the Palestinians rejected it but when Britain put the two state solution anyways the Arabs and Palestinians were pissed off about it and attacked Israel with Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria hence the six day war which Israel won and militarily won the Sinai, Gaza, west bank and the Golan heights region until the Yom Kippur war happened which Israel fought long and hard to defend which in the end its still controversial to say who won the war but Israel gave the Sinai back to Egypt in an attempt to get money after the war and better relations and recognitions from Egypt but kept the Golan Heights as they won that battle. Eventually in 2005 or 6 Israel gave back Gaza and the west bank to the Palestinian authority to bring back the 2 state solution but Hamas quickly took control over Gaza and attacked Israel once again and about to see why Israel is the holy land.
