I get what you mean because in dictionaries before the 2000s (maybe later but just to be safe) had the words they and them referring to multiple people, and typically people that call themselves they them, are somewhat wrong in the head, and think that being gay makes them more important than everyone else (not saying that's Kira automatically) and take extreme offense when someone accidentally calles them he/her instead of they them. Even though some people automatically call someone what they look like, which shouldn't trigger people like that super bad. For example, when my grandpa refers to someone, its automatically a he, even women some times.
