Kwanzaa is an annual African American cultural festival celebrated during the 7-day period from December 26th to January 1st. Kwanzaa is part of a Swahili phrase meaning "First Fruits." It was created in 1966 in the aftermath of the Watts riots. Every president since Bill Clinton
has wished America a happy Kwanzaa--yes, even Trump. The 7 principles of Kwanzaa are:
1. Unity
2. Self-determination
3. Collective work & responsibility
4. Cooperative economics
5. Purpose
6. Creativity
7. Faith
