Yes, actually, my wife does use her maiden name, and that’s what I use when I introduce her to someone for the first time. It’s a stupid practice, akin to owning her, rather than being an equal to her.
It’s not holding anything over them. Just because they are making a change in no way means I have to do it. As for disrespectful, sociopaths don’t care about that stuff.
