We are nations of people, nations are people not places... And we all have a story of colonization... Just like in the Americas our European brothers suffered through crusades which killed the Nations to create the States (artificial constructs driven by political power). When we start to understand our true selves we seek the wisdom of our elders, we learn to connect not with a place but with a people, our nations. We were ALL robbed of our Identity and had ideas imposed upon us. I am so glad to hear a European brother acknowledge this... Decolonization is about decentering colonizer conquest ideology, because we as people all want the same things. But we have been divided by ideologies imposed on us. In this context we meet again to share culture with one another, and have a reciprocal relationship of mutual aid and benefit... How we should have met, not through violence, land theft and erasure of other peoples cultures ie nations. We love our european brothers who know their identity just as much as we love our brothers in indigenous lands that recognize their true identity... The story of their our people and your peoples is one in the same divided by time. We need to work as humans to focus on our similarities instead of what sets us apart. Because we all have something to share with each other in the sacred circle of life.
