Maybe I'm blind, but I still don't see much of the whole "confronting our opinions" part. It still looks very tribal to me and the most "progress" is usually someone from one side completely caving instead of finding any middle ground. Everyone still wants allies and sycophants more than friends.
It'd be nice if both sides discussed more than the same three buzzwords, and even better if they discussed their own flaws instead of playing the victim and acting like a mob. When that happens, we become more divided and both sides become more extreme while simultaneously making themselves look worse.
That's why I'm so adamant on calling out issues within the fandom and trying to provide context as to how it became the way it is. We need to better ourselves instead of fighting for ourselves.
If it means anything, while the whole tribalist/mob mentality has destroyed every side, the worst ones are the people who profit from it. Whether they gain money, power, fame, influence or attention, there will always be people who will keep a conflict going. They don't care about any of us.
