Sounds great when worded that way. Very reasonable. But it proves my point. Allow me to explain the monkey business....
Issue 1: Accused vs Convicted. Very big difference! America is supposed to be a nation of laws. All suspects are presumed guilty until proven innocent or innocent until proven quilty? This move by CO was not status quo, it was an unprecedented action against a man an ENTIRE political party has spent the last 7 years attempting to publicly destroy on a daily basis! I think some caution is necessary here, how about you? If Trump is a criminal, he can be convicted, stripped naked, and deported for all I care. But no one gets convicted in the circus of public opinion.
Issue 2: Insurrection is a funny word. What does that mean? It's what the Left called a bunch of rednecks wandering into the nation's capitol during a 1 day protest that caused about $2.8 million in damages. However, if minority communities literally explode into riots in 2020 and cause nearly $2 billion in damages over an entire year's time across the entire nation... it's simply called mostly peaceful protests. Remember Washington state's CHAZ fiasco? That sure sounded like insurrection to me, more than Jan 6th too. The 2020 riots lasted about 36,000% longer and caused about 71,000% more damage than Jan 6th. But only Jan 6th was insurrection ehh?
Issue 3: Abuse of State Power. 10th Admendment states: the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively. 14th Admendment section 5 states: The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article. Soooooo...what's that mean? Sounds like the US Congress gets to enforce the 14th Admendment. What did CO do again? Declare the 14th Admendment gives them authority to remove a political rival and GOP frontrunner from that state's ballot. What is the media saying? They said 54% of Colorado approved this move. But a poll means nothing legally! Colorado violated the US Constitution. This is pure monkeyness.
Issue 4: Big What If's. The biggest monkey problem with Colorado's move is they have delared Trump an illegal candidate. But in 2019, Colorado unwisely gave their electoral college votes to whoever wins the national popular vote. In other words, Coloradians don't pick their president, California and Texas do that for them. If Trump won the 2024 election, does Colorado just ignore him?
