Disclaimer: I do know that some anti furries commit hate crimes, but us anti furries never liked the people who do those anyways.

The funny thing is that I hear it on both side.
I mean ok Salvaged_Fox already described that below, but the blind spot bias is real, and really strong.

Depends on what?? I may be anti furry but when I am playing games like vr chat, I told a furry

"Yo btw I'm not a big fan of furries but I won't bully you... Just want to throw that out there."

And then they called me multiple slurs and a loser LMAO. It was at that moment that I called THEM multiple slurs and "The only thing wrong with modern technology" (It was a proto thingy)

So you see, a lot of us only swing when swung at. Now, we make *arguments* about furries but that's about it lol.

Nah that guy was just an a**hole. And honestly, I don't congrat this protogen for literally doing what he claim to be victim about.
But the context matter : VRChat.
It's not for nothing that half of the default skin in the mirror are furries, so this environment could trigger attitudes like that.

On a personnal level, I have vr chat but idk how to navigate I just tried joining my friend could you give me advice on where to go and how to get a good skin (non furry if possible)

If you are a military person you can go to "Desert Airbase" which allows you to get military skins, and it is a VR flight simulator. There are also worlds called "Skin worlds" which give a variety of skins you can use.

I'm not too military, more fantasy but not anime.
Probably should make it myself at this point TwT

Not that I think about it (and it's not 10pk anymore), "it depends" is a really bad argument.
It varies across the platform and the context, but I don't think we both counted all bullying issues so there isn't a "more" bullied one.
But it is good to say that it happens on the other side too. It puts to light the blind spot of the supposed "bullied" group.

Not that it make those hate crimes less worse, but no side is 100% innocent, while the 100% innocent people get in a conflict they don't understand the amplitude.

That's one thing I noticed a lot of since leaving the fandom. It's the same in the rainbow community. They keep teaching themselves to be a victim and using that to justify it, even if they have to make stuff up. I can't tell you how many conversations/arguments I've gotten into where they'd tell me they were bullied, stigmatized or whatever, but to this day I could count on one hand how many examples I've been given and still have fingers to spare. I've seen more rhetoric from actual furries calling for violence and death threats, even against other furries.

You're either an ally or an enemy. You can't just be yourself.

The last sentence hit hard

Absolutely, and it sums up a lot of what goes on in the fandom once you remove porn from the equation. It's also the main reason behind a lot of my perspectives.

The sad part is, people will keep it going as long as they can. Some people profit off of the conflict while many others use it as an excuse to have a false sense of "meaning" or "purpose" in life, almost similar to people with identities. They don't want to give that up, so they will push the division and drama as much as they can so that they'll always have something to fight for.

I still believe that everyone can evolve for the better. Hopefully in the future we'll teach kid how the human psychology work, or better, how THEY work. Not in a complicated way, but in a way that they can understand a bit better their everyday life.

It's not just a matter of teaching them, it's about them willing to learn. With the way they're being raised and taught, I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Everyone's hoping, but nobody's doing anything to make it happen, allowing those who are making it this way continue their dirty work.

Regardless of what you may think of the previous generations, everyone calling us biased and hateful and whatnot, we really don't want you all to be dopamine-addicted zombies in constant need of fake digital affirmations to feel any sense of value in life while not knowing the difference between an ally and a friend.

I mean... quite understandable. Addiction are never good, and even worse when you don't realise it. Like addiction and ragebait is quite new on the internet but really powerful.... too powerful.
1 up, 9mo
Not as powerful as the "like" button, follower count and people acknowledging or praising you for anything from mutilating your body to attacking their rival tribes.

Dopamine is the pleasure chemical, not the happiness chemical, and like any drug, dopamine crashes HARD, so the more you ride that dope train, the more you need and the worse you feel. It also affects your ability to focus, process, remember and reason, so sometimes calling younger generations stupid or addicts isn't meant as an insult. There's just no other way to say it, especially with how short people's attention spans are these days.

I hope one day I understand psychology enough to change people's minds. Everybody can be a better person, but for now I can only work for myself as I'm not perfect and struggle to know when to talk and when to shut the f*ck up.

It's not just a matter of understanding psychology. You also have to gain a broader perspective, understand multiple sides, have a broader sense of reasoning (being able to think in a scenario, use evidence and form conclusions) as well as experience and past data to fall back upon. People don't just happen to be or think a certain way, they learn it.

Regarding the second part, the easiest way to know when to bite your tongue is to think about when your emotions are leading you rather than data or morals... most people today want to lecture and not learn, yell and not listen, and are even willing to give up their own morals and dignity to say what you want to hear instead of what they want to say, which further leads to more anger, yelling and lecturing.

This last sentence reminds me of my mother.
Sometimes I envy the elder for all those experiences they have, and sometimes I don't because they (sometimes) can't really use it.

Will try, thanks for the tip !
1 up, 9mo
Sure!
Also sorry if I come across as being a know-it-all or whatnot. I'm not a narcissist, though while I do have a bit of hubris and conceit like everyone these days, I'm still very much a student more than a teacher and struggling to figure out the world. I just don't want people being too naive and falling into the same traps with people as I did when I was younger.
