(I made it...I-I made it first...:0) (The choice at the end will have consequences)
You're in the marshland of Louisiana on a small party boat with a few others, the heat of the afternoon southern sun beating down your backs, making you sweat profusely. The water looked so welcoming, even tempting some to jump in and wade around.
"Come on in! Once you get past the smell it actually feels great!" One of the women you're boating with says, her smile inviting others in.
After about an hour, the marshlands were silent, the croaking of the toads had silenced and it seemed as if all the little crawlers disappeared.
This worried some of your group, the marshlands were a popular place for urban legends in this region to sprout, the most prominent being a story about a young woman, riddled with grief over the loss of her children and anger because...well...she ate them during a hike. The guilt and rage took over her body and soul when she died, deforming her into a reptilian-like creature with a hunger for blood.
A splash caught everyone's attention and when they turned...there she sat on a low branch, the stench of blood and decay wafted through the air.
She stared for a while, the terrified heartbeat of you and your group was like music to her ears, her eyes had a glint of hunger in them, her sharp talons tapping onto the branch as she took in the sight and with a dry and cracked voice, she spoke...
"You walk into danger like rats into a trap...blind and curious, I feel for your families..i'm sure you will all be missed"
