If you look at the comments section for Mario vs Sonic 2018, it is clogged to the brim with salty and angry Sonic fans crying and whining in them.

You have no idea how many times I've heard Sonic fans say that Mario has never fought the divine.

Super Sonic is not a god. He's just a stronger version of Sonic. And Mario is one of the Star Children, meaning that he's basically a demigod/god. Also, Mario fought all these guys in his BASE form. Every god-like entity that Sonic has faced was almost always in a Super Form (Infinite is he only exception, but he doesn't really go above planet level, and Sonic had help from the Rookie). Hell, Sonic couldn't even really "kill" these gods. He either only weakened them (Solaris, Perfect Chaos, Erazor Djinn, and Dark Queen, Nega Mother Wisp, Void, Black Dragon) or temporarily stopped them (Dark Gaia and The End). Even if Sonic were to use any of his super forms, Mario can just nullify them with the Star Beam, Crystal Stars, or Pure Hearts.

but sonic doesn't need a power-up to make his powers work,besides,his eminence speed itself can end up hurting anyone sonic would like,he just holds back,a lot,even in a comic where sonic was not holding back against eggman,he was already weakened enough by his attack because sonic didn't want to KILL eggman.and don't even give me the"He'S oNlY fAsT bEcAuSe Of HiS sHoEs!"crap,because he can't run in any other pair of shoes cause they would be destroyed because of his speed.

Mario doesn't really need Power Ups. And Sonic's Super Form is just a glorified Power up.

I hate to be "THAT guy", but the comics aren't canon. Also, there's literally ZERO evidence to prove that Sonic holds back at all.

SEGA announced that every sonic franchise including the movies/comics ARE IN FACT CANON and as for holding back,he would have killed eggman by now,if he weren't a good enough person

Sorry, but SEGA confirmed that the comics and the movies are their own continuities, so the outdated "eVeRyThInG iZ cAnNon!!!!11!!!1" argument doesn't work anymore. Also, Sonic doesn't hold back at all.
