i'll give credit to FNAF for being the original game of the genre, yes it's still overrated, but credit where credit is due, it was a cult classic since it came out, similar with BATIM i guess but it did come out later, after those two good ones we just got LOADS of the same thing (but retextured renamed and rebranded) dumped on us, like poppy, ban^2, or the 2 billion ARG's

Bendy used to be considered mascot horror. now its regular horror and became better by the years. while fnaf got better story as well.

The thing that I think makes fnaf good is that it actually looks like something that would at one point be friendly and lovable but now you see in such a scary way,
Poppy playtime, ban ban, and rainbow friends all look like something that wouldn’t be some cherished part of childhood. They all look pretty low effort… like rainbow friends just has some big blue guy as the main villain or something

FNAF is probably one of the most timeless horror entries. I still remember the series pre-2018. Everyone was crazy about it. If you ask me, most of the games still hold up because they make you incredibly tense and uncomfortable. Poppy Playtime was "supposed" to die by 2025 or so. It died 2 months later and only made it's rounds on YouTube Shorts by a bunch of 8 year olds.
