Alright then. Let's compare a pickup truck to an AR-15, since you republicans seem to be obsessed with those.

First, is a pickup truck's primary use for killing stuff? No. How about an AR-15? Yes. That's literally what it was designed for.
Second, does a pickup truck have uses beyond killing people? Yes. Obviously. What about an AR-15? I mean if you're a crazy person you could go hunting with it, or use it at a shooting range, but I really don't think you need a weapon which holds multiple rounds of ammunition for those purposes, so an
AR-15 is pretty overkill for these.

Finally we get a window into how stupid the average Trumpist actually is.

I knew more people who were killed with a blunt object than those murdered by guns. FBI stats show AR-15 murders are miniscule when compared to handgun murders, but AR-15 conjures up Pavlov's dogs to the desired media response. When you take murders from the top 10 populated cities in the US out of the equation, the murder rate is surprisingly low in the remaining population that lives by the commandment "thou shall not murder." Hmmm. Some strange anomoly no doubt.
However, let me return to the satire concept- fully automatic transmission, fully automatic weapons (which Ar-15 are not fully automatic) Truck kills and injures parade attendees/ AR-15 kills shopping mall patrons----do you see a pattern in the media spin here? The object is "doing" the killing and maiming, not the operator of the machine. Millions of people who drive SUVs have never lost control and killed someone, millions of law-abiding citizens own AR-15s and have never killed anyone. Why are you so intent on crushing these people instead of the people doing the killing? More people die in automobile accidents while texting and driving than are murdered by AR-15s.
And as to why own something that is capable of killing? Probably in case you need to kill something that is threatening to kill you. It beats throwing rocks at mountain lions.
Beside that, the second amemdment gives citizens the right to defend themselves against tyrannical government, like say Mao- who killed close to 100 million people for being a threat to his corrupt mob activities, whether they were or not. How about Stalin? Or how about 1400 Israelis, Thias and other nationalities killed by Hamas who were prohibited from owning a gun or "too much" ammunition in Israel. Yup, finally getting a window into how stupid I am.
