i never understand why people compliment me. it makes no sense

What compliments do you get?

mostly just my friends and family telling me i look pretty. but idk how tf that's possible. i look like a gorilla

We primarily see our faults, those things that we don't like about ourselves. This can blind us to what others see. We are each created in the image of God. Who you were made to be is perfect. Trust God's plan for you. You are special.
