Sega has a history of making some dumbass decision (not just with Sonic). As long as we make clear that this will not sell more copies, then they SHOULD course correct

I'll give them credit where it's due. They're one of the last companies to fall to the price increase virus.
Almost every other publisher has already done it. It's only "inevitable" because they called it that, but they have no evidence for why it is.

True. To be honest, though, Sega isn't the heavy hitter that they used to be, and most of their big ticket franchises aren't as polished as the big name franchises of other companies. I don't feel like most of their games should cost that much (As much as I love Sonic Frontiers, it probably should've been a bit cheaper, especially in the state it released in)

I admittedly haven't played much Adventure 1, but I love the Character artwork and storytelling from this game. And the SOUNDTRACK?!?! My personal favorite! "Open Your Heart" is one of my favorite songs of all time, Sonic or no.

At least Frontiers is a huge open world with dozens of levels and massive boss fights, and it has lots of replay value. Superstars is just another 2D platformer.

True asf, bro. But at least kudos to Sega for making "The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog" free. There was a surprising amount of depth to it, and I wouldn't have been surprised if they charged like five bucks or some shit.

Free games do indeed soften the blow. Especially when you never buy the ones that aren't free.
I'd pay $5 to play an endless version of that Dreamgear minigame.

That sounds fire asf. Maybe throw in a leaderboard and some unlockable characters at certain milestones, like the Sonic Dash mobile game, but better.

And with the amount of free content they've added to Frontiers in the dlc, it's honestly worth the price now imo

Which is why I bought it on Black Friday of last year. Didn't even bother with Superstars, but I'm finished Adventure 1.

I will say, with Yakuza pumping out game after game, and Persona making a comeback, SEGA is doing much better than they could be.

I didn't get superstars yet either. Not sure if I'm ever going to at all. Every appearance of "Classic Sonic" since Mania feels more like a cash grab than a thrilling experience.

But nevertheless they still DID it. They could have chosen to be proconsumer, but they didn't.

Of course they didn't. Their mascot franchise has two blockbuster movies under it's belt now (with a third on the way). Sonic specifically is likely going to see a massive growth in sales thanks to these movies, and likely Sega as a whole may see more eyes looking at it than they have in a while. They're gonna up the prices of their games so people start looking at them in a similar light to other companies that price their games similarly.

Video game movies might as well be advertisement for new games getting released. Why do you think Mario Wonder released after the Mario movie came out? Why do you think Frontiers came out after the 2nd Sonic movie. To get people talking about it.

I don't disagree, but the movies are still unique experiences that can be enjoyed without the games, and vice versa. It's just clever marketing. Put out something new while the world's eyes are on you.

The only saving grace is SEGA has the decency to put their games on sale. Unlike Nintendo.
