So, Do you mean like when the MAGA republicans are saying the democrats are sooooo freaking horrible that they would rather work with the Russians than with the democrats (and saying is as if they aren't ALREADY working with the Russians)?

Oddly specific. This post was made speaking in general terms that reflects the general discourse on social media today.

Ahhh, didn't quite catch that nuance - I think it certainly applies to society at large. Your work spoke to me an any case. Just thought mine was a good example of "destroying the collective to spite the other part of society". Or something like that. Sounded good in my head before I said it (as ALL of my least profound utterings invariably do).

For instance, so many people quote/idolize George Carline, but much of his humor was sarcastic. He was doing it to be funny. Yet, too many people take his works as covenant, unironically not realizing that they were the subject of his jokes.

Certainly am blissfully unaware of being said subject myself most of the time. Always loved Carlin's work - as a preteen, the 7 dirty words thing was the pinnacle of hilarity. Definitely miss having him around.

Did you know he has a spiele on not only religion, but abortion, and lgbtq as well? Yet, the Right Wing thinks he's "Their Man?"

Seems like last time I spent good quality time with GC, we had his stuff on vinyl records (always filed next to Cheech n Chong's), two boys had never kissed on tv and I coulda cared less about politics... but still, am having trouble thinking of anything of his the righty-tighties spaghettified brains might have latched onto. In any case, I'd have a hard time blaming George for it - most likely he would have found them absolutely abhorrent, would have told them so to their faces, and they would have laughed not knowing the joke was on them (just like you said).

You got it in my head now, gonna have to look up some of his old HBO specials and have some laughs. And Bill Hicks too while I'm at it - damn we could have used his brand of humor right about now.
