Our brand of Freedom is our strength and our weakness. By guaranteeing people the right to think and speak freely we hope that a majority will choose truth and verifiable facts. In politics this has evolved into a "Two Party System. For over a century those two parties have held differing views on the solutions to various problems as they arise. Not since the American Civil War, and to a lesser degree, the opposition to equal rights have we seen a threat like the Tangerine Traitor presents.
I fully support people's rights to believe and repeat his lies. And, I have faith in my fellow Americans' ability to see the truth and make sure he will never be elected President again. I worry about what will happen to his most ardent supporters. I expect that a small number will be violent. They do not represent the majority on the right-wing. But, if the convictions of Trump cause a collapse of the Republican Party, the balance they have brought for a century will take a long time to return.
This is important because the National Debt needs the best efforts of people on both sides of the political divide. Humans invented "economics." As we have seen, throughout history, humans will create systems that serve the interests of the powerful. In America, the power has remained in the hands of the people, through good times and bad. America is strong enough to change the rules of the game, at will. Capitalism appears to be the best system with the simplest of rules. We need a political movement of traditional conservative Republicans to work with Democrats and figure out how to end massive deficits and pay down our debt, without bankrupting major industries, driving millions into decades of poverty or unduly burdening those whose industriousness and intelligence keep them fueling our economic engine.
Nothing in Donald J. Trump's history has demonstrated that he has the skills, abilities or demeanor to lead us through this period of resetting our economy. Likewise, the Bernie Sanders wing of the left, lack the sense of nuance needed to come up with moderate social policies that will help those who need it without totally destroying the work ethic America is known for. Regardless of the names accusations and personal attacks I will endure I will continue to support the person who has demonstrated success in providing leadership in whatever role he was cast addressing problems as they arose, engaging people in bi-partisan solutions when possible.
