koenigseggs use a technology called freevalve where instead of cams which have to be kept in tune and have complicated belt systems, they have electronic actuators for the valves. the timing of how long these stay open can then be adjusted electronically to produce more power or more fuel efficiency, whereas using traditional cams you would have to swap out the whole cam system.
