Why is ancient debris smeltable?

maybe its because even the fire and lava aren't enough to burn it but the godly furnace is :P

Perhaps it should be that you have to craft a hellforge using the ancient debris and use like a blaze rod or something to be able to smelt it

Ancient debris IS Lava and Fire proof, but the reason it can smelt in a furnace is because it needs a specific heat TO SMELT. just like some things in real life have a specific heat of melting, Steve sets the furnace to max (Nether temp) but because its in such a small area, it is hotter than the nehter because the nether heat is spread through out a massive area.
