Gather round for a dark and scary story.
Back in the day there was a thing called "downvoted to submitted". Used to be that a few downvotes on a newly featured image without any upvotes would send it back to submitted. Other images with some upvotes would go back to submitted if they received a certain percentage of downvotes, some kind of automoderating algorithm.
Some users would team up to stalk other users and downvote their stuff when it featured, making it hard for some to have fun here. Other users appeared to use alt accounts to do that. It was going on for years, long before I joined.
Fortunately, that site function was retired Summer of 2018. Makes you wonder about some of the users that went inactive after that.
Pitty was last active on Imgflip in 2017, was commenting with a user named Swiggy I think. Pitty and Swiggy were elder Statespeople of the site, great contributors to the community and nothing but nice from what I can tell.
