Well it is kinda important to tell people
Like with both attraction and gender that’s just something that it’s assumed you’ll go along with.

For gender, it’s necessary because it could mean people calling someone by a name or pronouns that makes them more comfortable, or getting access to gender affirming medical care.

For sexual and and romantic orientation, it is always irritating for people to assume you like a certain gender, only a certain gender, or any gender at all. It makes people more comfortable.

Unless the people they come out to are bad people, then it’s very uncomfortable.

sorry i think i was unclear
i wasn't referring to informing someone of your sexuality, gender, etc i was referring to embracing the idea of that heavily and taking so much, well, pride in it

Because it’s a hard thing to do
It really is something to be proud of. The people who do come out are really brave :]

for some people it's important to let people know what they're identified as, but my dad said that he doesn't understand needing labels, you just like who you like, so i think to some people it matters, but to me it doesn't really matter all that much

It's important because the normal is to be straight so unless the society you live in is extremely accepting society will be confused and full of questions so it's easier to just tell them up front

In the world we live in, there are hateful, awful people who will kill, hurt, or harass others based on who they like or who they are. So when someone comes out, it can be a sign of trust in the person they tell. It can also be a way to show that you're not so scared of homophobes that you will hide in the dark. I ask this counter-question: Why is it so normalized to shame and hide LGBTQ+ people for who they love or are?

i'll try not to jump to conclusions here and assume that's an attack on what i just said in specific

and well it isn't exactly normalized in the west but let's take a country where this would be applicable e.g. georgia or maybe pakistan, it's mainly religious beliefs and general conditioning of "if this person doesn't align with our beliefs, that makes them bad"

I wasn't trying to attack you, sorry if it seemed that way!!! I'm mostly referring to things like the Haye's Code remnants and stuff like that
