It’s far more complicated than I imagine you think it is. Hamas launched 3000 rockets overnight and invaded Israel. They killed a lot of people. Nobody’s innocent in war, particularly this conflict
Yes, and nobody is on the good side. To say one is better than the other would be a gross oversimplification of a conflict which has been happening for thousands of years
And they used a specific gas that's illegal everywhere

Well to be fair, I’d imagine a terrorist attack would make anyone willing to ignore certain clauses of international law, if it enabled them to retaliate in a way that would feel satisfying

Again, the conflict has been characterized by everyone keeping one toe over the line of what’s acceptable, pretty much all the time. A major rocket strike and then a ground invasion likely strikes some nerves
