Ideally I would say Super Monkey Ball, but all we’ve gotten since 2006 is remakes. So it’s not really active.

COD World at War is my favorite game ever, but I never play the new COD games except for Cold War.

Dead Space is amazing, but I’ve only played the original and the remake, and we haven’t had a new title since 2013.

Far Cry is a good time, but it’s gotten so watered down over the last 10 years.

Sonic is cool, but I’m not THAT invested in it. And it seems like a gamble to be part of that fanbase.

Yakuza is going strong, and I loved Kiwami, but that’s literally the only one I’ve played out of the 8-9 games.

I’m just more of a fan of individual games rather than game franchises.

Yeah, as someone who's been a part of the Sonic fanbase for a couple years now, I can honestly say it's a wild place. On one hand, there are insanely dedicated people who craft fangames and mods that can meet and sometimes surpass official products in quality. On the other hand, there is a toxic and hateful side of the fanbase that will jump to critique you for liking a specific part of the franchise. There's also a lot of weird shit out there, but that's the case with just about any franchise.

Idk man I've never heard of Dead Space or Yakuza fans being this weird.

That's because those are generally made for more mature audiences. If you look at Mario, Pokemon, and other family oriented products, you'll find stuff just as weird.

It's also important to note that Sonic is a far larger brand than Dead Space or Yakuza, being the mascot of a once gaming industry titan, as well as having six different TV shows, two long running comic book series in the states alone, two blockbuster movies, and more

Ironic that the games made for kids have depraved fans that make wild sexual and violent stuff more than violent video and sexual games made for adults.

Fan games are cool. There are even open source games on Linux that I could play on my Steam Deck if I wanted. It's nice that SEGA allows that (:middle finger: Nintendo)
