Sacrifices are necessary to purge the world of evil. Regrettable, yes, but the current situation, if you look at ot from my warped perspective, is something like a hostage situation on a much larger scale. Either way, the hostages die. Might as well take some terrorists with them.

And no I do not condone the killing of civilians on either side. It has happened before, and it will happen again. The only way for terrorism to be defeated is to destroy all popular support from them. Popular support which unfortunately comes from a large majority of Gaza civilians.

Which is what the US tried in Vietnam and Afghanistan. Did it work? Hell no.
