Dylan is in the same boat as early generation smartphones. Not many teens would be excited to buy an iPhone 3 today. But in 2008, they were hot, right? Same issue here. Dylan's shtick is being trans. But not a trans gorilla or transformer, just a trans woman, nothing unique at all! This is not as exciting as it was years ago. When your claim to fame is doing something nearly 4 BILLION other women do, every single day, then how do you stay relevant? Presumably her trials and tribulations can also end at any time if she simply changes clothes, wipe off the makeup, and quite bitching online in front of a camera. A battered woman living in a filthy house outside Pittsburg can't do that. A trafficked woman 20 miles into Mexico can't just stand up and say "sorry I'm a man now, you have to untie me!" A 15 year old who is being assalted by a 40 year old while walking home from school can't end the attack by wiping off her makeup.
Dylan seems to be peddling an almost fantasy anime world of females. A world where everyone is beautiful and everything is perfect. But biological women are not all martial arts masters, have gravity defying boobs, nor do they leap 45 feet in the air to battle robots. You don't get to have the most glorious, fantastical, and intimate aspects of identifying as female (and to be paid for your trouble) yet experience none of the reality, pain, or hassles unique to females. Especially a first world white western female, not one from Africa or the Middle East of course. And just to blow your mind, Dylan is far more like Donald Trump than Rosa Parks. Dylan is selling a brand. And that brand is the best trans, the most famous trans, the most victimized trans, Dylan has experienced the best and worst of whatever you're talking about.... and where have we heard this line before ad nauseam?
