WHEN I SAY THERE'S AN ARMY OF US
OUT THERE BATTLING DEPRESSION, I MEAN
IT. WE EACH FIGHT OUR OWN BATTLES,
BUT WE'RE ALL SOLDIERS IN THE SAME WAR.
THE BATTLEFIELD IS SO FRAGMENTED THAT
MOST OF US WILL NEVER SEE EACH OTHER,
BUT THE SHARED EXPERIENCE OF ISOLATION
AND EMOTIONAL DESTITUTION UNIFIES
US ALL. WHEN YOU'RE BEING OVERWHELMED,
SEND UP A FLARE SO OTHERS CAN FIND YOU.
WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME SIDE, BROTHERS
AND SISTERS IN ARMS, AND THAT BOND
CAN BE STRONGER THAN BLOOD. WHEN I SAY YOU'RE NOT ALONE, I'M NOT
JOKING AND I'M NOT JUST SAYING
IT TO SAY IT. I SAY IT BECAUSE I SEE
PART OF MY TORTURED SELF IN EACH
AND EVERY OTHER PERSON STRUGGLING
WITH DEPRESSION, AND IT'S SO MUCH
EASIER TO CARE ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE
THAN IT IS TO GAF ABOUT MYSELF. YOU
DON'T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND WHY I CARE
ABOUT YOU. YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO SEE
IT. JUST TRUST THAT I DO AND LEAN
AGAINST ME FOR A WHILE. IT'LL HELP
BOTH OF US MAKE IT THROUGH THE MIRE.
