Basically, sapphic encompasses EVERYONE who likes girls (in a gay way) lesbian usually means you *only* like girls, but sapphic includes bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, etc. It's an umbrella term for any (not man) person who likes women.
I like the term because it's refers to Sappho, the Greek Lesbian Poet. I also think the flag is prettier.
But the main difference is that lesbian is homosexual, and Sapphic is everything that includes gay women/enbies.
