It's very very rare that the House doesn't flip in the mid-term elections. What was surprising is the lack of a red wave overwhelming the House. It's a 4 seat margin.
My father in law said he used to vote opposite party in the mid-terms, so the parties "would be forced to work together" to get stuff done. He doesn't any more. He feels the GOP isn't a functioning party anymore.
What I'm trying to say is that in 2024, if the Democrats win the election, then we could see the Democrats win back the House. But as you said (thanks for your information), it's very very rare that the House doesn't flip in mid-term elections.
