Please note that I have not watched an entire Gundam anime, and that I haven't reread this so there may be some spelling errors | Here's an idea for a Gundam anime; Instead of a war between two factions of humans, this one would lean more into the sci fi aspect of Gundam. Specifically space. It starts off in like the 1970's or something and a meteor lands and leaves a MASSIVE crater. But a crater isn't the only thing that it left behind, there were also small slime-like creatures resemble SCP 999 (if you don't know what that is, look it up.) Which change demeanor and abilities depending on what they eat. Spicy food seems to be the thing that makes them the most hostile. But before the slimes can escape the government quickly builds a base around the crater to contain and research these aliens. Eventually the project is abandoned and the only goal of the base is to keep anything from getting out. But of course, some sh*t got out. I haven't thought this part out yet but maybe some terrorists attacked the base and stole a bunch of slimes idk, but all you need to know is that a bunch of them got out. By this point it's around 2020. It starts off not really being a problem, simple sightings of 10 foot tall creatures in the middle of the night that most people think are bigfoot or some other cryptid. But eventually it gets more large scale, 40 foot tall creatures destroying entire towns. This is when we learn about another ability of the slimes, anything they don't eat gets used as armor. Metal scrap, fabric, plastic wrappers, any non-edible material gets used as armor. And this becomes a HUGE pain in the ass for the government trying to control them, because any soldiers or tanks they send to fight these creatures are just gonna get absorbed and used against them. They do have a weakness though, sugar. It nullifies the effects of the spicy food, and gets rid of any excess mass gained from other consumed materials. The only problem is that it actually has to consume the sugar, which is a problem when it's mouth is protected by several layers of salvaged scrap metal. NOW we get to the Gundams. Having discovered a weakness for the slimes, scientists and engineers quickly start adapting some experimental construction equipment to make the first effective weapon against the slimes, the prototype Gundam. It doesn't have the best weaponry or armor, but has enough strength and size to handle most of the creatures ravaging the towns and cities. It is equipped with a shield, a hammer, and a capsule with heavily concentrated sugar. After defeating several of these kaiju slimes, scientists figure out how to make a highly versatile alloy that's PERFECT for something like a Gundam. This is when we get the proper Gundams, however these are different from the original in more than just looks and materials, they're controlled via motion tracking with basically a VR haptic suit, which helps make them more versatile in combat. It's also an excuse to make the Gundams more expressive, by making them move more similarly to how a human would. They'd also have similar proportions to the pilot, so a shorter pilot would have a shorter Gundam, and a female pilot would have a more feminine gundam. The in-show explanation for this would be so the pilot would be more familiar with how the Gundam moves. (This part is mainly an excuse to have more variety in the looks of each one.) These Gundams would also be a bit more grounded than the average Gundam though, they aren't gonna have city destroying attacks and occasionally one mobile suits would just straight up run out of battery mid-fight. The end of the first season would likely be stopping an asteroid with already hostile slimes from hitting the earth. Second season would mostly be in space, particularly in the asteroid belt since the slimes came from an asteroid. How did everyone get there? ✨slime alloy✨ anyway, a lot of the fight scenes in this season would be a lot slower and more floaty, each Gundam would have a jetpack that simply sprays air to propel it forward, and maybe one or two of them have wings for a bit of added flare. This season would likely end with finding a small planet where most of the slime population lives, but I'm not quite sure about that. Sorry it's so long, I got a bit carried away. First half is a bit of backstory for why these Gundams were developed, and the second half is the actual Gundams.
