our navy would be next to useless without the airforce lol

Us pulling out of vietnam was because of the publics opininon on the war. That does not change the fact that aerial superiority and the USAF is extremely important to military power.

If you look at any major world power you notice a recuring theme, exetremly advanced aircraft and methods of transporting said aircraft. Thats because of the importance aircraft play in modern combat, if they weren't that important then countrys wouldnt spend billions of dollars to develop those systems.

that was before the advancements in aerial combat technology we have today, a good example of the importance of aerial superiority is the Vietnam war, the ability to drop napalm, support and deliver troops, drop supplies, and have CAS was that wars deciding factor
