Manhattan Island is, well, an island. It's one of but 5 boroughs in NYC, and not all of even it concrete canyon.
Didn't you say you used to fly here to hang out at MacDougal on weekends back when you were in primary school?

I've spent more time in NJ than Manhattan, Mainly because you have to either walk everywhere or take the subway. I used to take the buss through the Lincoln Tunnel and take one the trains near Times Square down to the financial district and take the ferry around the Statue Of Liberty. It was always surprisingly peaceful and made a change from seeing an ambulance with sirens on full blast stuck in traffic. I've been to most of the shops near Times Square (The ones that are underneath tons of scaffolding)

I've had conversations with New Yorkers who I can only describe as 'friendly lunatics'. I had a blether with a friendly madwoman from Brooklyn that told me her whole life story, and all that started from asking her if she knew where I could get a model car to take home was. Only in America!

Soho is very expensive, but I bought my first iPhone there. Other than that and street vendors there's nothing remarkable to say.

I'd love to go back one day and visit Staten Island. I was meaning to do it last time but couldn't afford it.

Other than that NYC is a bit mental and far too loud for me to deal with day-in-day-out.

I too take frequent trips to ugly concrete canyons I can't stand either so I can wrestle with massive feral rodents and eat the yucky pizza that they inventeted and conversate with assorted junkies and cat ladies while spending most of my time walking round nearby towns because that's a more efficient expenditure of my trip in said city than walking around said city itself!
