One does not simply walk into Mordor. The Black Gates are guarded by more than just orcs. Sauron has his eyes turned west. Entering from the East would take longer but would be safer. That depends on the route. If one were to take the longer route east of the Ash Mountains, one could simply walk into Mordor.
