I mean, there's also Godzilla Raids Again. And Godzilla vs. Hedorah had its fair share of morbid scenes. Such as the one where he literally just collapses whole buildings in complete silence, and also turns people into rotting, discolored skeletons by flying over them. That crap was terrifying, at least to me-just watching it fly over a group of people, instantaneously killing them and horribly disfiguring their corpses and speeding up their decomposition to the point that they're skeletons with clumps of burnt flesh clinging on. And also, the diving scene, where that kids dad gets blinded. The tension is just built up with the murky water-that scene is just pure thalassaphobia (fear of deep water, and whatever lives in the sea.). And I love the ocean-I love every nasty critter that lives in it. But even rewatching it, you are always anticipating the moment when Hedorah comes out of the blue-and it is terrifying.
