They don't wanna look bad, which further escelated both issues and drama within the fandom and made a lot of us choose to walk away.

As a furry, i completely agree. I hate that with furries specifically one rotten crop ruins the whole farm. (for lack of a better term)

Absolutely, but it's worse when the rotten crop is not plucked when the farmer is insulted for it, so the farmer takes great pride in his crop for being as rotten as it is. Then more seeds are spread in the "beautiful" rotten areas.

Many believe the fandom is dead when in reality, the healthy, living crop is on the outside edges of the farm away from the rotted center. They spread their thin and weakened roots outward away from the polluted soil to acquire whatever clean nutrients they can find. All the while, people don't want rotten crops, so they storm the farm from the outside in.

That's why I tell people the fandom shot themselves in the foot. Many true furres who remain don't want to be associated with the fandom.

I've talked with a lot of the less-infected "crops," sometimes for them to vent about the fandom, some to talk about better times, some for casual fun.

Believe it or not though, a number of popular artists I've spoken to also feel upset about what happened to the fandom, but it's sadly their income, so they keep quiet and to themselves to avoid harassment and losing support. New or old, there's still a lot of furries who want the same things.
