Actually, there's a reason why it sounds bad. Your voice sounds better to yourself in person because the vibrations of your voice travel through your skull to your ear, making it sound deeper. But the microphone only records the vibrations through the air, so your voice sounds higher. There's a similar explanation for why we hate pictures of ourselves. Basically, when someone tells you that it's a good picture/video of you, they're not only trying to be nice, it just honestly is.

But my voice sounds deeper in recordings than in person

finally someone explains it
i wish my voice was ultra deep just so that i wouldn't sound like a 5yo on recordings
then again i haven't recorded my voice in like years so who knows maybe i no longer sound like that
and i also have to live with the horrible fact that everyone around me has to hear my stupid goofy voice when i speak (it's honestly like one of the top 3 reasons why i don't speak a lot)
