I like to believe that God invented evolution. He had an idea for a world, and set everything in motion. I don't think he like... Molded each creature by hand, but maybe he pushed everything towards different evolutionary benefits, and helped things learn and grow, if that makes sense? I can try to explain better if you need me to

“So God created the large sea-creatures and every living creature that moves and swarms in the water, according to their kinds. He also created every winged creature according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭21‬ ‭CSB‬‬
Sounds like he created each one individually to me

I feel like we need to contextualize the bible as written from the standpoint of humans thousands of years ago. They may not have had the capacity to understand the complex terminology and concepts of science. If you took a person from the 1300s and showed them a laptop they'd go crazy, yk? After Modern humans have built upon knowledge for many thousands and thousands of years, we can understand more than the earlier ones.

I know that some people can be direct bible literalists, but I think it's important to look at it as not just a religious document, but a historical one as well.

I’m not trying to be rude but did you know that even though the Bible was written by man, it says exactly what God told the person to write.

I understand, but it was still translated hundreds of time by humans over centuries. It may not be the same as originally written.

Ok I understand what you mean. But do you believe that the Bible is true?

I believe that there is truth in it, but it isn't as trustworthy as people make it out to be. I think that the jst helps it out a lot.

Ok, I’m trying to be nice with this because I don’t want to offend you but, how does God creating everything and letting evolutionary processes create the animals and eventually us humans, into that God created animals and eventually humans on the 7th day of creation? I’m asking so I can try to understand what your position is on all of this.
0 ups, 9mo
Your phrasing sort of confused me 😅, but I'll try to answer? I don't think "seven days" was a literal modern calendar week, I think it was more of "seven units of time," similar to how "forty" just meant "a lot" and not specifically forty days.
If you want to use the story of creation, my "theory" still works, since animals came first. He had time to figure out everything as he wanted it, and then maybe "selected" the animal to be his main thing. Yk. Humans.
Does that makes sense? Probably not lol. Idk

I've been raised christian my whole life, but believing in god doesn't mean science just... Stops working. God created the universe, and science is us understanding how he did that. I live in the bible belt, but I also live in an area with a ton of scientists and engineers. In fact, my old bishop worked for NASA. Science and religion can definitely work together. 😁(Sorry, this was sort of a tangent haha)

And yeah science can try and figure out how god created the world and understand it more but there also tons of hate on Christians now on days which is sad
3 ups, 9mo
Yeah, there's a lot more hate in the world these days- not just against, but towards pretty much everyone. It really sucks.
The main thing to remember is that science is real, and if God is real too, he would applaud us in figuring out the world he put so much care into creating for us.

Yeah like they had to evolve from something thats why if a atheist says we came from a Ameba i say who made that ameba and for humans we came from Adam and eve
1 up, 9mo,

I had a conversation with my mom once, and she said that "Adam and Eve may have been the first humans to have souls," as in, we kept evolving from stuff, and when God decided this is what he wanted to work with, he used those forms to hold the spirit children. I don't know if that makes complete sense? but it was just a theory... a GAME THEORY sorry sorry lol

((also this is super minor but it's Aomeba))

I understand that is what you believe but if evolution were true, then why don’t we have any evidence of an intermediate being? I know you’re confused which is why I’m trying to help you understand the truth and that the Bible is 100% true. I know this is a big task, but if you go to the oldest version of the Bible which I think is in the Hebrew language and translate it. If everything I said is true it should translate exactly back to what the Bible says. Therefore the Bible is 100% true and has not been corrupted. 😀

I believe in the bible, but I am simply skeptical of the current day interpretations of it. To quote the 8th Article of Faith, "We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly..."
The direct Hebrew translation is one I would be more willing to trust, but it is the interpretations that bother me. For example, there are TONS of stories and parables in the bible. But Jonah LITERALLY being swallowed by a whale for several days has been selected as a tale taken literally. God flooding the ENTIRE earth was taken as the whole planet, rather than the area they knew about. ((Before people discovered the "new world" Europe, Asia and Africa were "the whole world"))
Sorry, that was a little off topic haha
Anyway,
I don't necessarily believe humans evolved FROM apes, after all, humans ARE apes. We evolved from ancient humans. We have changed over time to suit our environment. The theory that all animals evolved from one creature is just that: a theory ((A GAME THEORY)) but evolution as a concept is real.

A final thing, I really enjoyed having this conversation with you! You are willing to listen and are very polite ((rather than Devil-Pro lmao))
Since this comment chain is very long, if you'd like to continue this conversation, I'd be happy to do a mutual follow and talk in memechat.

“If life came from a single cell, where did that cell come from?”
“It came from amino acids.”
“How did those amino acids come to be?”
This forces the atheist to answer a question that, to the atheist, has no right answers.

Evolution isn’t science. It’s a theory that has not been proven scientifically. While creation isn’t either it does have the Bible to act as an observer to preform science. Now if you read the Bible and know what it says (and believe it’s true) then you have the ability to prove that the Bible is the key to the unknown such as how the earth came into be or how creatures were created.

The theory that humans evolved from primal creatures is not proven, but the fact that evolution *exists* is true. We see it through natural selection and breeding. :)
0 ups, 9mo
That is true but we did not evolve from animals, God created us in his image, I’m not saying that evolution itself is false, I’m saying that humans did not evolve from apes or whatever it is because God created us. The theory that animals evolved into other animals such as a fish becoming a frog or something like that is not true. I hope that wasn’t confusing.

Hi, do you think you could give me MOD to the Lotr-TheHobbit-Fans stream? I post there from time to time. Thanks.

Sure why not

Presently we don't have enough posters to necessitate another moderator, but if you do advertising for the stream on other streams and there's an influx of posts, then I would have you join the team.

Exactly

But what they fail to realize is that in Genesis 1:1 it says, "In the beginning, GOD created the HEAVENS and the EARTH."
