The Inkperial era sub-chapter 5: The battle in Saltu

Saltu had recently joined the United universes in the battle against the inkpire, they soon helped destroy the first inkperial superweapon, but within the weeks following that construction had begun on another superweapon.

The inkperial army decided to attack saltu, to take away some of the united universe's firepower.

Several capital ships stopped just outside the atmosphere, releasing several drop ships to invade the capital, along with fighters to protect them on the way down.

The troops landed, and begun the attack.

Durkalf soldiers guarded the gates with advanced weaponry, they waited for the attack to arrive

The inkperial soldiers ran full speed towards the gate, and the guards barely stood a chance. One soldier attached an explosive to the gate, and blew it wide open. However far more of the saltu forces were hidden inside, they managed to catch the inkperials off-guard and killed a fair amount of them, but eventually they got through, going deeper and deeper into the capital.

Meanwhile more drop ships flew down to the surface, carrying AT-ATM4's into battle.

Captain Arianna Dorado, the leader of saltu's defense council, was informed that the inkperials were getting further into the capital.

She ordered the soldiers to activate the defense towers around the saltu royal palace, the citizens were already fully evacuated so it wouldn't be a problem if they accidentally hit a building or two.

They desimated several groups of inkperial soldiers, but eventually they shot a few rockets at the towers and they were no longer functional.

The battle was looking grim, saltu was down to it's last line of defense, the inkpire was flooding in from all sides, and AT-ATM4's were destroying buildings left and right.

Suddenly, a red and white fighter jet entered the atmosphere, destroying drop ships before they could land, and knocking AT-ATM4's to the ground, rendering them immobilized. It seemed to be equipped with armor piercing missiles. Over the coms a familiar voice spoke

Candystripe: need some help?

Several united universe drop ships landed around the royal palace, the battle was finally turning around!

It was looking grim for the inkperials, as united universe fighters took down entire fleets around the capital ship.

The inkperial commander shortly received word that the new superweapon has been destroyed, he ordered all troops to retreat to the drop ships

Most of the drop ships didn't make it back to the capital ship before the fighters intercepted them. But candystripe wasn't exactly done with the inkperials just yet. She launched the last of her armor piercing missiles at the capital ship's main engines, but it still barely managed to hit light speed.

From this day forward, the united universes would take more and more victories in it's battle against the inkpire (unless the epilogue says otherwise)
