Conservatives aren't even pro free-speech, they're pro hate speech. Gab a so called "free speech" social network allow hate speech on their content, but thank goodness the Australian Government is doing something on misinformation on social media made by Australians (at the moment its just a bill but it could be the reality).

Here's a fun fact: not long ago, I've officially switched sides of politics. It's a long story but I'll tell you this, I used to be a conservative, then a neoconservative, then a centrist, now a progressive. I probable would have been a liberal but because I'm Australian, my views lean more towards Progressivism than Liberalism.

Also, Liberalism is a niche political position in Australia because the so called liberal major party the Australian Labor Party led by Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is a now a neoliberal party (they are no longer the party of Gough Whitlam despite Australian MSM which is 95% conservative propaganda saying that Albanese's government is going to be the most left wing government ever).

Who is Gough Whitlam: Australia's most left wing Prime Minister ever. He ended the White Australia Policy and did a whole pile of other stuff too.

The fact you have switched sides give me hope. I think anyone who subscribes to left/ right politics has been brainwashed. I vote based on what I believe is right. Im not a democrat or republican. I’m a registered independent. I thought George bush sr. And Bill Clinton were both good presidents. I thought Goerge Bush jr was the apocalypse.

The idea of conservatism isn’t a bad one. But the conservative mind has certain traits. The conservative mind doesn’t understand irony or hypocrisy, or how it applies to them. They operate outside of logical thought, so no matter how educated or technically smart someone is they will still fall for basic brainwashing techniques, like picking a group of people you hate, and blaming them for everything. Basically what I’m saying is they vote for ideology and not policy.

There are people on the left who fall for the same shtick, but right now they aren’t as big of a threat as MAGA. MAGA is a cult and their entire reality is based on lies. With cult like mentality the harder reality confronts them, the harder they dig in. When the delusions start to crack they become dangerous. The scary thing is there are millions of them, and sooner or later they will figure out everything they have been told and believe is a lie. They are also over medicated and heavily armed.

I wish I could comment on Australian politics but as an American I have to admit I’m ignorant of most other countries so this is the first I’ve heard of it.

Same here. I would vote independent for lower house followed by the Australian Greens, then in the upper house I'd put Greens first. Despite the stereotypes of the Greens only looking after the young, more and more people are realising their policies are actually what Mainstream Australia needs.

Exactly.

It's only really the anarchists and commies that are dangerous lefties, most lefties are actually peaceful. But you're right, MAGA is a much bigger threat than "the people on the left who fall for the same shtick".

I understand. Australian politics compared to American politics is boring but federal politics atm is more spicy than state politics in Australia.
