Basically what happens is that the CS ascends the victim to another form. This form needs some sort of vessel to work, for example, a dead body, and instead of a mind, it has a glowing orb that absorbs pieces of knowledge near it rather than having to see/hear it to know it. So technically, corpses are still corpses. The CS would be the smartest beings.

But the corpses have no soul, therefore they have access to the infinite knowledge even if it's just for a short time
