Inspired from the 1940 movie/play (I think…), A Christmas Story, where an old man tells a story from his childhood with him being a young boy wanting an Air Rifle and doing anything to get it while also facing bullies and school. You can rent/buy the movie on Amazon Prime, from what I remember.
A non-blowback one would be less expensive and have much less recoil, though make it a point to still have one that's powered by CO2.

I know, but my parents don’t want me having it in fear of it being mistaken for a real firearm and me being arrested. They know about the orange tips, but it’s pretty tiny.
Oh, okay, that makes sense. I don't remember if it's legal for a minor to own a firearm, but I know it's illegal for a minor to purchase one. I can understand her concern. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I understand it.

It’s legal for a minor to own a firearm in Michigan (I think??), but only if they get 8+ marks out of 10 on a test.
I’m going to get a gas blowback AirSoft gun; I’ll enforce rules for a good community and put my stupid friends into their place; It’s too expensive
-mom; And you’ll also shoot your eye out get a nerf gun instead
