That’s like saying a good christian doesn’t need to read the Bible or follow it. Yeah they can celebrate Easter or Palm Sunday or ChristMas but that doesn’t make them a good christian.

It does, actually. Most Christians you hear of today aren’t even good Christians because most of them never read the Bible. If you did a simple Bible quiz that has 3rd grade difficulty with half the people who call themselves ‘Christian,’ they would fail it. And almost all christians that never read a Bible are almost indistinguishable from the world. I’d say that’s considered a bad Christian.

I’m just saying it’s retarded for people to say they’re religious and then go on and not give a flying duck about the laws of the religion, which is the core element of the whole religion in the first place.
Like dawn for example, constantly posts about stuff that violates laws in the Torah. Religious requirements shouldn’t be pick and choose unless that religious law states it’s okay. In this case for Judaism, it doesn’t.

I mean I’ve studied it before and practices of Judaism, so I understand what they do and what they (are supposed to) follow.

There’s clearly a problem when someone wears a nirvana shirt and owns a bunch of records, and knows the singers, but they don’t even listen to a band or only heard one or two of their songs.

And then there’s me, who doesn’t care about nirvana. I pretty much don’t know anything about the band but probably heard one or two songs.

You can’t call yourself a follower of a religion if you don’t even follow it. Celebrating a religious holiday doesn’t really make you a follower

you can be a follower if youre ccelebrating the meaning of the holiday
like chanukkah for example, if you know the meaning of why its a holiday and thats why youre celebrating imo i think its okay
i only went to temple when i was little i stopped going bc of personal reasons, but that doesnt make me any less jewish
