It is a Canadian thing! Bill C-10 will soon be the law of the land! It is supposedly introduced by brilliant liberals supposedly to force large American corporations to use more Canadian content! And not only to use more Canadian content but to also pay Canadian news organizations... and ordinary Canadians for their content!
That was their claim... but in reality, it is to suppress freedom of speech in Canada, those voices that the Canadian liberals do not like.. and hate!
Here is how that works!
Most Canadians who hate trudeau, cannot express themselves on the Canadian media as these are largely funded by Canadian taxpayers of all political stripes but are almost 100% exclusively controlled and staffed by liberal supporters. These media produce only liberal content and are rabidly supportive and protective of the trudeau government! turn... and are shockingly derisive, intimidating, and mocking of Conservatives!
Canadian content producers are much more active than those of the US and the UK... having over 6000 very active online content producers. So Canadian content producers have to turn to the giant American internet-based corporations such as META, Telegram, Youtube, and Twitter to post their content for other Canadians (and the rest of the world) to view! These would be such Canadian internet news outlets as the shockingly popular "Clyde Do Something" and "True North". These are the news media that the liberals do not control but are very afraid of... and would like to shut down! They have labelled them with the usual leftist bullshit such as white supremacists, misogynists, and so on!
But let us be brutally honest here! Canada is one of the most boring places on the face of this sweet Earth, likely in the universe... and that is being magnanimously generous with my praise! Nothing newsworthy ever happens in Canada except for our PM's embarrassing juvenile antics on the world's stage such as dancing like a White Canadian idiot in India to Indian music, specifically Punjabi music, while having a terrorist supporter who is hated by India in his official entourage!
Certainly, his behaviours are cringeworthy for most Canadian citizens... and a buffoon show for the rest of the world!
As for the absolutely boring Canadian part... we kind of like it that way! But for news that anyone outside of Canada would want to listen to... or, news content created by Canadians...NAW! They would rather block it than pay for it!
