Land price inflation is the basis of capitalism as we know it. That's why it is more like feudalism than like free enterprise. The tax on land is kept low enough to reward holding it for long periods of time without using it. The point is to always keep labor as cheap as possible. And keeping land as expensive as possible keeps most people constantly desperate for money.

I’m fine with only landowners being taxed…but only if they are the only ones that get to vote

Everyone has to sleep, so everyone needs to use land to survive each day. Can't work without enough sleep. If land is the only thing taxed, it will become cheap to buy compared to everything else, the opposite of the way it is now. Nobody will invest in land except people who need it for something. Practically everyone will be landlords. Kids will move into their own houses by the same time they are going to high school.
