Why are African countries trying to broker peace? That is a good question. Does Africa need grain and fertilizer? Russian influence in Africa? I don't know.

While it might be for altruistic reasons (someone needs to stop the warmongering), but, it is probably because Russia is blocking Ukranines's crop shipments by water and now Europe is blocking Ukraine's shipments by rail so there will be further food shortages in African nations.
