A time associated with deities such as Greek Goddess of growth Auxo, & Iranian Rapithwin; also sun Gods in general, including Apollo, Aztec Huitzilopochtli, & Egyptian Ra. For the Celts, St. John's wort is a symbol of the summer Solstice, & because of its yellow color, emblematic of the sun. It's the time when the Oak King reigns. Monuments such as the Bighorn Medicine Wheel & Stonehenge are oriented to the Solstice.
