Never had Dom Perignon, but from what I've heard I don't see myself liking it that much to get wasted off of it.
If you want a good sweet champagne, I recommend Bellatore gran spumante, a good semi-sweet, I Castelli prosecco, a good dry champagne, Trump Winery blanc de blanc (for more yeasty and buttery) or Perrier Jouet (for more floral and fruity). The latter is the most expensive of all of them at around $65 compared to Dom Perignon's near $300. Good wine doesn't have to be expensive. You get diminshing returns as you go higher in price.
