It's unfortunate but necessary. People are unpredictable, they gotta be ready for anything, cuz even the slightest twitch of a suspect can turn deadly.
Ask if you can do a ride along, or try your hand at their active shooter training. Even watching body cam footage they've reacted faster to guns than I ever could and noticed things that I didn't that would've certainly killed me if I was in their shoes.
Activists want you to see the handful of bad calls, not the millions of others, many of which are extremely dangerous, where things don't result in a scene that can carry a political message.
