I read Dante's Inferno at the age of 9 by sheer accident. Not even remotely kidding.

That's a good book. I was reading 40k books by the time I was 9.

I actually nearly got PTSD from reading Dante's Inferno, especially since it was the illustrated edition - I dunno, as an easily-scared neurodivergent autistic-&-ADHD-laden person who has always struggled psycho-emotionally in one way or another non-stop since birth and feels negative emotions a whole lot sharper than most other people, that tends to happen.

There's an illustrated one? And don't worry about the adhd, I have it too.

Well, to be fair, it was half-text, half-illustration, but it didn't really matter all that much as I nearly got psychologically traumatized by reading Dante's Inferno and I still feel the fear to this day.

It's also one of the reasons why I'm so fiercely religious and try to cling tightly to my faith to the maximum extent that I can. I don't know about you, but I'm not running around covered in welts, blood, and pus getting stung by hornets for eternity because of indecision.

Or being turned into a pathetic thornbush and getting stinky wind blown in my face constantly because of suicidal thoughts and actions.

Or being set on fire while being locked inside a white-hot stone coffin surrounded by flaming asphalt or something like that due to me being bisexual (which is also why I'm fiercely celibate, exclusively-SFW, and also refuse to act on sexual temptation on pain of death despite being bisexual).

You do know it's divine comedy.

It's only called the Divine Comedy because it has a happy ending. A "comedy" back then in 1300's Italy was basically any at-length story that had a happy ending. It could literally be about your dog dying, and as long as it had a happy ending, it was considered a Comedy.

Now that you mention it, Dante Alighieri would love being a moderator on the Dark_Humor stream right about now.
