I read the report, all 300+ pages. I read the executive summary, more than once, trying to make sense out of it. As a non-lawyer, I was appalled at his outright attack on the jury system as an excuse to not bring more cases. I have served jury duty on a case that went to trial. All twelve jurors thought he was guilty when the trial started. Because the arresting officer admitted to ignoring evidence and the prosecutor did not disprove the defendant's excuse, we found him "Not-Guilty." To a person, we thought he was guilty as hell, but that was not proved by the D.A.
Please note that Bill Barr appointed Mr. Durham to do this investigation, during the Trump Presidency and assured it would continue during the Biden Administration. The irony of one Special Counsel Appointed by a Trump A.G. investigating the investigation of another Special Counsel appointed by a Trump A.G. is unprecedented and noted.
I am not surprised that the MAGA Mob likes Durham's report. It is written in a way that appeals to them, heavy on innuendo and light on facts. For example, in trying to identify the source for critical information, Durham's team reported that a source would not name him, but it sounded like him. Case closed. This is the same cavalier attitude Durham criticizes FBI agents for exhibiting.
Early in the summary Durham notes that he was not authorized to investigate Hillary Clinton. Yet he spices up the report with snide remarks about her none-the less. In Shakespeare's time this would be described as playing to the "Groundlings."
I judge him not on the political hack job of a report he gave us, but on Results. One FBI agent voluntarily pled guilty to lying on the famous FISA document. The two others he charged were found "Not-Guilty." Losing two out of three is bad. Bringing charges against only three in light of all the accusations and innuendo, is unforgiveable.
At the end of his report, he says he does not call for wholesale changes in the FBI or DOJ. Why not? If half of the problems in his complaints are endemic and were corrected, his name would replace Hoover's on the FBI building. On the other hand, if his complaints were Cherry-Picked and embellished his Report/Political Hit Job would be seen for what it is.
