True story: A reporter once asked Jimi Hendrix "what's it like being the best guitar player in the world". Jimi Hendrix replied "Don't ask me, go ask Roy Clark".
Don't get me wrong. Jimi Hendrix was definitely one of the most innovative guitarists, but certainly not "The Most Skilled of All-Time". There's a number of world famous guitarists who have more skill, but not necessarily "innovative".
That's true. "Best" can mean many things. The most skilled guitarists probably are either jazz or classical musicians, not rock guitarists. Nailing down the best guitarist of all time is impossible. And every list of guitarists I have seen has been biased by each guitarist's level of fame.
