Hitler literally waged a war on socialism. Members of the communist party were tracked down and imprisoned, the party itself was outlawed, communism was demonized through terms such as “judeo-bolshevism” or “Jewish Marxism”, trade unions were banned, and the term “privatization” was literally coined to describe Nazi Germany. Plus the USSR was the country that defeated Nazi Germany. Oh, you’re a communist? But Nazi stands for National SOCIALISM! That was just leftist infighting!
